Bellingham Youth Regatta

You are invited to participate in the 2013 Bellingham Youth Regatta hosted by the Bellingham Yacht Club. The Regatta will be governed by the 2013-2016 Racing Rules of Sailing, and the US Sailing Prescriptions, except those altered by the Sailing Instructions or by class rules that do not conflict with the Rules, Prescriptions or Sailing Instructions.


This regatta is an event of the 2013 NW Youth Racing Circuit. Competitors shall be no older than eighteen (18) years of age at the time of the regatta. Optimist competitors shall be no older than fifteen (15) years of age during the 2013 calendar year.


Optimist, Optimist Green, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Laser, V-15 and FJ. For additional fleets there will be a 5-boat minimum for a class. Advanced notice for other fleets would be appreciated.


The racing venue is in Bellingham Bay. The regatta will be based at the Bellingham Yacht Club. Up to six races per day are scheduled, but one completed race will constitute a series. Registration will be 0830-1030 hours Saturday morning. A skipper’s meeting will be held at the BYC at 1000 hours on Saturday August 10, 2012. Warning for the first race on Saturday is scheduled for 1200 hours. The Warning for the first race on Sunday is scheduled for 1000 hours. No races will be started after 1430 hours on Sunday.


Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Online registration at is preferred, but in case you have trouble completing the online registration you can complete the form below and mail or email it to the address on the form. Registration fee includes breakfast and lunches for the participants on Saturday and Sunday, dinner on Saturday, 2 days of racing. On-site registration will be 0830-1000 hours Saturday at the Bellingham Yacht Club.


Registration fees are $40 single-handed and $60 double handed. Additional meals are available for family members—$10.00 for the Saturday dinner. Make checks (payable in U.S. funds only) payable to Bellingham Yacht Club.

Boat Storage and Launching

Boats may be stored Friday and Saturday nights at the TD Curran boat yard located at the intersection of Roeder Ave and Coho Way across from LFS. DO NOT BLOCK ANY BOATS. There will also be room for a few boats under the BYC deck on the floating dock off Gate 3. Boats can be launched at the public boat launch or at Gate 3. Optis should be launched at Gate 3 and will be towed to race course.
